Case Details:

On June 20, 2011, Ms. Wang Guiqin went to a marketplace in Shiduitou Village and spoke to people about Falun Gong. On her way home, a police vehicle chased her and struck her motorcycle. She fell down and lost consciousness. When she came to, she was weak and numb in her limbs.  Six weeks later, on August 8, she suddenly collapsed and passed away.

Police arrested and beat Ms. Wang several times between 1999 and 2001 for practicing Falun Gong. On July 24, 2001 she was detained and shackled in a contorted position for three days and nights.  She was then sentenced to 15 days at the Zhaoyuan City Detention Center, where she was further tortured.

When her sentence ended, she was transferred to a brainwashing center for over ten days and then sentenced to two years of forced labor. The labor camp refused her entrance, however, as torture over several weeks had led her health to deteriorate so that she failed a medical exam.

She later regained her health and routinely spoke to people about Falun Gong. She was again abducted during the autumn of 2010 while distributing DVDs related to Falun Gong and was sent to a brainwashing center, but was released the same day.

Ms. Wang wrote short notes about the persecution she had experienced over the previous decade. The information on this page is based on several notes that her family found among her belongings after she died.
