Elderly Woman in Shaanxi Dies in Custody Serving an Eight-Year Term for Practicing Falun Gong

Ms. Cao Ping (曹萍), a 74-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, died in Shaanxi Province Women’s Prison in April 2026, two years after she entered the prison to serve an eight-year sentence for her faith. Her family has not been told how she died. They were permitted only a brief viewing of her body, during which they saw large bruises on her legs, and were then pressured into agreeing to an immediate cremation. Her case was reported respectively by Minghui.org and Weiquanwang on September 6.

Nine Sentenced in Liaoning for Falun Gong, Including a Non-Practitioner Convicted Over Family Ties

Nine residents of Dashiqiao City, Liaoning Province, were sentenced on August 11, 2026, to prison terms ranging from six months to nine years. Eight were sentenced for practicing Falun Gong. The ninth does not practice and was convicted because he is the son of two of the defendants. The heaviest sentence went to a 71-year-old man who by the time of his trial was blind, unable to walk, and had to be wheeled into the courtroom.

Elderly Woman Dies 27 Days After Release From Guizhou Province No. 1 Women’s Prison, Her Body Found to Bear Multiple Fractures

Ms. Liu Shuling(刘淑玲), a Falun Gong practitioner in her late seventies from Zunyi City, Guizhou Province, died on June 23, 2026, just 27 days after being released from a five-year prison sentence served for her faith. She had entered prison able to speak and walk; she left it incapacitated, unable to talk, and, as a hospital later discovered, with several ribs and a thigh bone broken. Her case was reported by Minghui.org on August 09.

Grandmother Dies in Prison After Being Forcibly Jailed Despite Failing Health

Ms. Liu Huiju, an 84-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Shuangyashan City, Heilongjiang Province, died in Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on May 7, 2026, nine months after authorities forced her—by then wheelchair-bound and in severely poor health—to begin serving a sentence handed down more than three years earlier. Her case was reported by Minghui.org on July 23 and by Weiquanwang on July 24.

Daughter Dies Three Days After Admission to Prison; Authorities Block Independent Autopsy

Ms. Chen Yan, a 45-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Benxi City, Liaoning Province, died on November 8, 2025—just three days after being admitted to Liaoning Province Women’s Prison to serve a five-year sentence for her faith. The Falun Dafa Information Center reported her death on December 2, 2025, describing how she was transferred to the prison unable to walk after 16 months of abuse in detention, and died within days. This report follows up with new details that have since emerged about the authorities’ handling of her death and their obstruction of an independent autopsy.

Shandong Grandmother Secretly Sentenced to Three Years and Imprisoned Just 13 Days After Arrest for Practicing Falun Gong

Ms. Liu Yulian, a 77-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Linqing City, Shandong Province, was arrested on May 12, 2026, and admitted to Shandong Province Women’s Prison in Jinan around May 25—only 13 days later—without her family being informed of any charge, trial, or legal representation. Her case was reported by Minghui.org on June 2 and by Weiquanwang on June 3.
