Ms. Wang Xuan, 54, a retired radiometric testing engineer, was held at Liulin Prison in Beijing until late 2020.

Wang received a subpoena on December 19, 2018. When she went to the courthouse, she was arrested and sent directly to prison. Only then was Wang informed that she had been sentenced to prison for 17 months.

She appealed the verdict to the intermediate court. Despite their lawyers’ formal request of an open hearing, the judge upheld her prison sentences without a hearing.

Mr. Wang Fenglong was repeatedly tortured as the authorities at Liulin Prison in Beijing attempted to force him to renounce his faith. By the time he was released in April 2018, his health had dramatically declined as a result of the torture.

Wang suffered from high blood pressure, diabetes, and a stroke after four years of torture for not renouncing his faith. Eight months after he was released, Mr. Wang Fenglong passed away on January 20, 2019. He was 58.

In the past 20 years of persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Wang was arrested 11 times for his faith. He was subjected to various tortures during detentions, including sitting on a small stool for extended hours, starvation, beatings and electric shocks.
