Case Details:
Mr. Xu Baiyi was healthy and operated a successful business. After the Chinese Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong, Mr. Xu went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice. Subsequently, he was repeatedly arrested, causing him to lose his business and be estranged from his family.
When Mr. Xu was imprisoned in 2000, guards injected him with unknown drugs. In 2002, he was “sentenced” to a long prison term and transferred to Jilin Prison. By 2008, he had been severely tortured to the point of becoming paralyzed, at which time the authorities released him.
Mr. Xu was taken to the Yili Garden Senior Center in Yishan Road. He was placed under police surveillance and denied the right to receive visitors. His health continued to deteriorate and Mr. Xu passed away on January 29, 2010.
