WHITE HOUSE PROTESTER CHALLENGES MEDIA’S SILENCE ON ORGAN HARVESTING
In an event that has made headlines, Epoch Times reporter and Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Wang Wenyi made a clear statement in Washington last Thursday about the urgency of stopping the killing of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Wang interrupted Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Hu Jintao’s speech by yelling in English: “President Bush, stop him from persecuting the Falun Gong” and “stop him from killing,” and in Chinese: “Falun Dafa is good” and “Hu, your days are numbered.” Wang explains (statement) she felt the need to protest in such a manner because of the mounting evidence that organs are being extracted from the live bodies of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Also at a Washington press conference last Friday, the two sources, a Chinese journalist and a medical professional, who first exposed large-scale organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in the Sujiatun concentration camp made their first public appearance (news). While sources indicate that a massive cover up has since taken place in Sujiatun (news), there are reportedly dozens of other secret camps in which organs are being harvested from Falun Gong practitioners (news).

Undercover researchers who called transplants centers in China posing as potential clients were told by doctors that there is currently an abundant supply of organs that will only last for a few weeks (to listen to recorded converstations click here). Doctors acknowledged that the organs come from Falun Gong practitioners and are extracted from living people. Practitioners and supporters fear that a slaughter of Falun Gong practitioners is now taking place in China in order to destroy evidence (news).

OPEN LETTER: IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO REPORT THE ORGAN HARVESTING FROM LIVING HUMANS IN CHINA
Last Wednesday the English Epoch Times Editor-in-Chief John Nania published an open letter to media colleagues: “Organs being taken for transplantation from the living bodies of thousands of detainees in China’s labor camps…Couple this with a current surge in transplant operations being performed in China’s hospitals in advance of hastily cobbled-together restrictions on transplants that take effect July 1, and we have a breaking news story worth investigating thoroughly. Yet major media, if they have reported on this story at all, have reported mostly or only the Chinese Communist Party’s canned and predictable official denials…use your resources to fully investigate the growing evidence and shine a public spotlight on what is a deliberate and horrifying extermination of human life for profit. Look not just at the cleaned-up Sujiatun, but at the entire network of labor camps, other detention facilities, and hospitals in China.” (open letter)

TAIWAN LEGISLATORS URGE INVESTIGATION OF ORGAN HARVESTING FROM FALUN GONG
Taipei Times (April 19, 2006): “The legislature yesterday passed a provisional resolution calling on international human-rights organizations to investigate what it said was China’s ‘monstrous crime’ of harvesting the organs of Falun Gong practitioners. ‘We urge that the United Nations and other international human-rights organizations send their observers to China to inspect the situation and demand that the Chinese authorities tell the truth about this matter,’ the resolution states. The draft resolution [is] backed by about 50 lawmakers from across party lines…Legislator William Lai, who initiated the provisional resolution, said every government should boycott harvested organs from China by barring their citizens from having transplant surgery in China.” (news)

U.S. CONGRESS ASKS PRESIDENT BUSH TO INVESTIGATE CHINESE DEATH CAMPS
California Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-46) sent a letter to President Bush last week urging the President to “Investigate Charges of Illegal Organ Harvesting and Cremation in Chinese Death Camps.” The dear-colleague letter was signed by 81 representatives from both parties. “Every once in a while an issue presents itself that we cannot ignore. Recent charges that Chinese authorities may be harvesting organs, without consent, from living human beings, from prisoners of conscience, is one of those issues…We as Americans must not become complicit in these crimes by keeping silent…History cares not whether we inked another trade deal or helped sell another Boeing 747, but history will judge us if we choose to look the other way when faced with truly indescribable human suffering on this scale.”

INTERNATIONAL TEAM AIMS TO INVESTIGATE ATROCITIES AGAINST FALUN GONG IN CHINA
A newly-formed international coalition of organizations announced last week that investigators are applying for Chinese visas in order to conduct a “broad and rigorous” investigation of China’s concentration and labor camps (news). The coalition also plans to investigate medical facilities throughout China that conduct organ transplants in light of evidence that thousands of Falun Gong practitioners are being killed for their organs there. The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China (CIPFG) includes journalists and legal professionals with expertise in uncovering details of human rights abuses in China.

“We have very specific and extensive information on labor and concentration camps throughout China,” says Coalition spokesperson Dr. Sherry Zhang. “We know where the atrocities are taking place, and in many cases we have detailed eyewitness accounts.” Some of the researchers’ visa applications have already been rejected.
