White House Asked to Drop Charges against Wenyi Wang

NEW YORK (Falun Dafa Information Center) – The Falun Dafa Information Center is calling upon the U.S. government to drop all charges against Dr. Wenyi Wang, and instead, turn its attention to what spurred her protest: the mass imprisonment, torture, and killing of Falun Gong practitioners at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Specifically, in the past two months a wealth of evidence has come to light showing how the CCP is systematically taking the organs of live Falun Gong practitioners and cremating their bodies to destroy all evidence—all to supply a lucrative organ transplant business throughout China. As a medical doctor, Wang—who shouted protests at Chinese communist leader Hu Jintao as he delivered remarks on the White House South Lawn on April 20—had been intimately involved in this ongoing investigation and was appalled by the nature of the crimes.

“Dr. Wenyi Wang does not deserve to be put in jail for speaking out to stop crimes against humanity. The charges against her should be dropped,” stated Falun Dafa Information Center spokesperson Erping Zhang.

Dr. Wang has been charged in federal court with intimidating, coercing, threatening or harassing a foreign official, a charge that carries a possible sentence of up to six months in jail and a $5,000 fine.

“There was no ill-intent in Dr. Wang’s actions,” said Zhang. “Everyone could see she posed no actual threat or danger to anyone. As a reporter, she might have broken protocol, but it was an intervention against a genocidal, horrific crime unfolding at this very moment in China, and the move might well have saved lives. We must hear her message.”

Victims of the organ harvesting are reportedly held captive throughout some 36 or more concentration camp-like facilities in China. Witnesses say Falun Gong practitioners are transported secretly in closed freight cars and that crematoriums have been built to destroy evidence post-extraction. The kidneys, livers, corneas, hearts, and/or skin grafts are often removed while the “donor” is still alive, which ensures that the organs are fresh and can be sold for large sums.

According to human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, China executes more people every year than all other countries combined. It is also widely known the Chinese regime harvests the organs of executed prisoners, and what little paperwork is needed to show supposed “consent” is easily falsified. Labor camps all across China are filled with prisoners of conscience like Falun Gong practitioners, many of whom are unidentified. It has been official CCP policy since 1999 to consider Falun Gong practitioners “non-persons”; deaths typically are not registered and culprits not held accountable. Thousands of practitioners have simply disappeared.

A growing body of voices support the Center’s claim that a harvesting “frenzy” is currently unfolding (news). The British Transplantation Society, for example, has recently verified that China is taking the organs of thousands of prisoners without consent every year and the speed at which donors and patients are matched “implied prisoners were being selected before execution… The weight of evidence has accumulated to a point over the last few months where it’s really incontrovertible in our opinion.”

According to U.S.-based investigators who have been posing as potential organ transplant recipients, hospitals in at least eight provinces in China are telling potential customers to hurry in for transplants before “supplies run out.”

“This is why Dr. Wang felt compelled to shout out at the White House,” says Zhang, “She does not belong in jail, but perhaps she does belong in a courtroom… as a key witness in trying Chinese Communist authorities responsible for these crimes against humanity.”
