Third-Party Investigative Reports

The Communist Party has repeatedly barred international human rights organizations from investigating atrocities perpetrated against the Falun Gong. The PRC had twice agreed to allow the World Psychiatric Association to investigate claims of political torture of the Falun Gong in mental asylums, but cancelled both visits at the last minute.

In spite of such limitations, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Reporters Without Borders, and other organizations have been able to piece together significant evidence. Following a highly controlled U.N. Special Rapporteur on Torture visit to China in 2005, his office was still able to report that use of torture against the Falun Gong remains prevalent.

Prominent human rights attorney Gao Zhisheng has conducted his own on-the-ground investigation in China, and discovered the use of torture even more extreme than previous believed.
