Case details:

Ms. Wang Yujie was sent to the Wuhan No. 1 Detention Center on March 11, 2010 for posting a flyer with information about the persecution of Falun Gong. After more than a year of torture and forced conversion efforts, she died on September 3, 2011 at the age of 24. She had first learned Falun Gong in 2006 when looking for work in Wuhan.

After 15 days at the Wuhan Detention Center in 2010, the Jianghan 610 Office sentenced Ms. Wang Yujie without trial to a year at the Hewan Forced Labor Camp. There, drug offender inmates made her squat every day, deprived her of sleep and beat her. They also said, “if you don’t transform after two weeks, we will hang you up by handcuffs.”

Ms. Wang was released on March 11, 2011 but within hours was detained again and sent to the Hubei Province Brainwashing Center. There, she lost the ability to walk due to torture. Guards also forced her to practice another form of qigong practice.

Two months later Ms. Wang was released. She experienced excruciating pain in her head, neck and legs, sweat profusely and vomited frequently. Her family eventually took her to a hospital where she received injections that made her body go into convulsions.  Failing to respond to medical treatment, she died on the morning of September 3, 2011.
