EDMONTON SUN: CANADIANS INVESTIGATE ORGAN HARVESTING FROM FALUN GONG PRACTITIONERS
Former Edmonton Member of Parliament David Kilgour “is investigating allegations that an underground network of Chinese surgeons, nurses, and hospital administration staff are harvesting organs for sale. ‘Falun Gong members are (allegedly) being held in pens, waiting to be butchered for the highest bidder in need of a cornea, a kidney, or a heart…This is becoming an export business for China, and the world is doing nothing about it’…‘I’ve heard of things being done to the Falun Gong prisoners so horrifying I can’t repeat them,’ Kilgour said, adding China recently admitted to the international community that its government executes Falun Gong prisoners… International human rights lawyer David Matas of Winnipeg hopes to travel to China with Kilgour… Matas and Kilgour will release a preliminary report exposing the organ harvesting network July 6.”

CHARGES DROPPED AGAINST DR. WENYI WANG
Dr. Wang Wenyi, who shouted, “Stop persecuting Falun Gong!” during Hu Jintao’s speech at the White House on April 20, 2006, has reached an agreement with prosecutors arranging for all charges against her to be dropped. Under the deal, reached on June 21, the charges will be completely dropped as long as Wang does not commit any crimes in the next year. Wang’s hearing had previously been postponed three times. Wang has said that she felt driven to protest because of reports of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China. “Only when the international community, international media and governments all take action and pay attention to what is happening can we bring the atrocities to an end,” she said.

NY ASSEMBLY MEMBERS PUSH RESOLUTION CONDEMNING PERSECUTION IN CHINA
A group of 60 New York State Assembly members, led by the Bronx’s Michael Benjamin, are pushing for a resolution condemning the Chinese communist regime’s policies of religious oppression, highlighting the persecution of tens of thousands of Falun Gong adherents.

400+ CHINESE LAWYERS STAND UP FOR FALUN GONG
When the campaign against Falun Gong began in 1999, lawyers throughout China were notified that they must follow Party directives in handling Falun Gong cases. But recently Chinese lawyers such as Gao Zhisheng have increasingly taken bold stances in defense of Falun Gong. Last month, three lawyers in Hubei province defended the “not guilty” verdict of three female Falun Gong practitioners, demanding their unconditional release, which led to their hearings being suspended. It is additionally reported that 400 Chinese lawyers have publicly called for an end to the campaign against Falun Gong. As a result, documents have been allegedly circulating at China’s Ministry of Justice warning that these 400 attorneys will be isolated and punished.
