STATEMENT CONCERNING HARRY WU’S POSITION ON ORGAN HARVESTING REPORTS
“As a result of Mr. Wu’s attempts to discredit the witness reports, some members of Congress have chosen to dismiss this humanitarian issue when they could put real pressure on the regime to end such atrocities. Whose interests, then, is Mr. Wu really serving with his campaign?…The witness reports are horrifying, and in a way, we all wish they weren’t true. But when a Chinese surgeon cheerfully tells a potential transplant customer they have a supply of livers from Falun Gong practitioners, from living bodies, what are we to conclude? How should we, as human beings and members of the international community, react to this kind of information? For the CCP to hold spiritual practitioners in camps like livestock until it is time to slaughter them for their organs is an evil greater than we can imagine. If it is one day fully revealed, this is an issue that could shake our humanity to the core.”

CHINA’S OWN STATISTICS REVEAL ORGAN HARVESTING ATROCITIES
The Ottawa Citizen (Aug 25, 2006): “Between 2000 and 2005, the source of 41,500 organs in China is unclear. China does not have a developed national voluntary donor program. Family donors or non-family brain-dead donors account for, at most, one per cent of donations in China. In this period, kidney transplants just about tripled, and liver transplants jumped astronomically to 4,000 in 2005, compared with about 150 in 1998, and with promised waiting times of one week — unheard of in the civilized world. Consider the China International Transplantation Network Assistance Centre website (http://en.zoukiishoku.com/)… In the question-and-answer section, the site advertises that ‘Before the living kidney transplantation, we will ensure the donor’s renal function. … So it is more safe than in other countries, where the organ is not from a living donor.’ And the answer to ‘Are the organs for the pancreas transplant from brain death patients?’ is: ‘Our organs do not come from brain death victims because the state of the organs may not be good.’ This is damning evidence by their own words. Anyone who knows anything about organ donations would be horrified to learn that organs come from “live” patients, and are promised within the week or month, including kidneys, livers and hearts. It means that live patients are being killed to provide organs. By their own words, and the corroborating interviews and calls, are the Chinese authorities condemned.”

AUSTRALIA CALLS FOR PROBE INTO CHINESE ORGAN CRIMES
The Epoch Times (Aug 23, 2006): “The Australian Government’s commitment to an independent investigation into allegations of genocide against Falun Gong practitioners in China is a welcome first step, say former Canadian Secretary of State, David Kilgour and Vice President of the European Parliament, Edward McMillan-Scott. The two foreign dignitaries have spent the last week visiting Australian members of parliament, professionals and non-government organisations looking to gain support for an inquiry into allegations that Falun Gong prisoners of conscience are being systematically killed for their organs.”

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH: ORGAN TRADE IN CHINA RAISES ALARM OVER HUMAN RIGHTS
St. Louis Post-Dispatch (Aug 20, 2006): “In 2001, Huagui Li was arrested in southern China for handing out banned literature. For that crime, she could have become one of thousands of Chinese reportedly rounded up every year and killed for their organs. She says she was tortured repeatedly at a women’s labor camp, and one day with about 500 other detainees, was taken to a hospital for a physical examination that included extensive medical tests. Her high blood pressure probably saved her life, she says. It made her ineligible to become an organ donor. Her jailers later released her.”

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH: A CHINESE HORROR STORY
St. Louis Post-Dispatch (Aug 20, 2006): “Removing organs from a live human being for transplanting into a wealthy foreigner seems like a horror movie plot. But an international investigation led by a former member of Canada’s parliament concluded last month that ‘there has been and continues to be the large-scale seizure of organs from unwilling Falun Gong practitioners.’ Among evidence cited in the report are statements by the wife of a surgeon who removed the corneas of about 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners between 2001 and 2003. It also cites statements by officials at detention centers in Shanghai, Shandong and the provinces of Guandong, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Henan and Hubei. Some admitted that organs came from Falun Gong practitioners; others simply referred to the availability of ‘live, beating hearts’ or ‘young, healthy kidneys.’ As many as 41,500 organs transplanted in China from 2000 to 2005 may have come from prisoners, including Falun Gong practitioners, the report notes.”

NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION ISSUES STATEMENT ON ORGAN HARVESTING IN CHINA
“The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is deeply concerned about recent allegations regarding the procurement of organs and tissues through coercive or exploitative practices abroad, or practices which violate worldwide human rights standards. The ‘Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Practitioners in China’, from Canadian human rights attorney David Matas and former Canadian Minister of State David Kilgour, alleges that large numbers of Falun Gong* practitioners in China are being imprisoned and executed for the purposes of organ or tissue donation.”
