BEIJING DETAINEE BEATEN INTO COMA; HUSBAND HAD MET SECRETLY WITH EP VP
The Falun Dafa Information Center has learned that 46-year-old Ms. Zhang Lianying was beaten into a coma on March 20, 2007, while detained at the Beijing Women’s Labor Camp. Zhang required emergency surgery to treat a massive brain hemorrhage and has since regained consciousness, but police have hand-cuffed her to the hospital bed and she remains under threat of further torture and abuse. In May 2006, Vice President of the European Parliament, Mr. Edward McMillan-Scott, visited China to investigate human rights abuses. Zhang’s husband, Mr. Niu Jinping, met with McMillan-Scott and briefed him on the plight of his wife and other Falun Gong practitioners that were being held and often tortured in custody throughout China.

RUSSIAN FALUN GONG REFUGEE AND CHILD UNLAWFULLY REPATRIATED TO CHINA, CCP DELEGATION BELIEVED RESPONSIBLE; LIVES AT RISK
Falun Gong adherent Ms. Ma Hui and her 8-year-old daughter, Ma Jing, were seized on Tuesday by Russian Immigration officers at their St. Petersburg residence and forcibly put on a plane to China, sources from Russia tell the Falun Dafa Information Center. According to a relative in Beijing who saw Ma Hui detained by Chinese Public Security officers, Ma Hui’s daughter was released to an aunt while Ma Hui herself continues to be detained for “questioning.” Ma Hui’s whereabouts remain unknown. A spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner of Refugees issued a statement saying the forcible deportation of Ma Hui and her daughter are “in violation of the Russian Federation’s international obligations and of the Russian Federation Law on Refugees.” (full statement)

DIPLOMACY WITH CHINESE (COMMUNIST) CHARACTERISTICS?
Seven adherents of the Falun Gong were arrested without grounds in Moscow on Saturday at 3:30pm local time, sources in Russia report, at the behest of Chinese officials on the eve of a visit by Chinese Communist Party leader Hu Jintao. Police allegedly were pressured into the move following the arrival in Moscow of a Chinese delegation of 80 some members. At least one Russian police officer told witnesses the arrests were made due to “complaints” by the Chinese Embassy.

WIFE OF CHINESE EMBASSY DIPLOMAT DEFECTS; EXPOSES CCP PLOTS
The wife of a diplomat stationed in the Chinese Embassy in Canada has defected, bringing with her documents and testimony said to expose illicit activities organized by the Chinese Embassy against Falun Gong practitioners, democracy activists and other critics of the Chinese regime. 48-year-old Ms. Jiyan Zhang, the wife of a high-ranking accountant for the Chinese Embassy in Ottawa, announced her defection at a rally on March 30th, saying she defected because of her disgust with the actions of the Communist Party and how they attack Falun Gong. Zhang says a special unit within the Embassy is dedicated to spying on Falun Gong practitioners in Canada and she personally witnessed Embassy officials stockpiling materials to incite hatred against Falun Gong practitioners. She also said the Chinese Ambassador Lu Shumin personally delivered materials defaming Falun Gong to Canadian government officials.

WESTERN STANDARD: SOWING CONFUSION; EMBARRASSED BY REPORTS OF LIVE ORGAN HARVESTING
He posts his messages everywhere under several different names on Internet blogs and discussion groups. He writes letters to the editor anywhere and sends e-mails to anyone–anyone who might take seriously shocking evidence that the Chinese government “harvests” and sells live organs from political prisoners…He is Charles Liu, a 40-year-old Taiwanese-born technology consultant who lives in Issaquah, Wash., and does business in China. Liu has been so active and so pro-Beijing in his writings that some Falun Gong supporters…have accused him of being an agent for the Chinese government, waging a disinformation campaign against them, trying to confuse people, and deliberately wasting everyone’s time. He doesn’t really explain, when asked, why he started a blog last year called “The Myth of Tiananmen Square Massacre” under the name of Bobby Fletcher (one of his online aliases)…Liu’s actions mirror disinformation campaigns waged by the Chinese government in the past. Winnipeg-based human rights lawyer, David Matas, really doesn’t know what to make of Liu. “I don’t know who he is, but what he does is spend a lot of time replicating nonsense to defend the Chinese government,” Matas says. The only concern Matas has is that Liu seems to know who he and Kilgour met with in the United States to discuss their report. Matas discovered Liu had sent e-mails to politicians–and their staff–prior to the meetings. “The only people who would have that information would potentially be the Chinese government. I can’t imagine how Liu would know we were meeting with those people,”
