Why I'm Suing China's Former President
Huang Kui holds up a copy of a complaint that he submitted to Chinese courts together with 34 other people affliliated with the prestigious Tsinghua University who like him have suffered persecution for practicing Falun Gong. The complaint charges former Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin with illegal imprisonment, torture, and a dozen other crimes committed in the campaign against Falun Gong. It is one of over 160,000 such complaints submitted to Chinese courts since May.

FALUN GONG: PRACTICE & BELIEFS
Falun Gong is a traditional Chinese spiritual discipline that is Buddhist in nature. It consists of moral teachings for daily life, a meditation, and four gentle exercises. At the core of Falun Gong are the values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. It is always taught free of charge and is practiced in over 70 countries.
PERSECUTION IN CHINA
Today, in Falun Gong's homeland of China, those who practice are subject to severe human rights violations at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party. The scale and scope of abuses taking place make it possibly the largest religious persecution in the world.
